Dr. Eleni Kanasi


Dr. Eleni Kanasi received her DDS from Umea University, Sweden in 2003.

Her education continued in Boston, where with the support of the National Institutes of Health (T32), she received a Master's of Science (MS) degree in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2006 and a Certificate in Oral Epidemiology from Harvard School of Dental Medicine in 2007.

In 2008, Dr. Kanasi completed her PhD in Oral Microbiology, a collaborative program between the Forsyth Institute in Boston and Umea University in Sweden.

Dr. Kanasi, joined the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine family, as a Periodontology Resident and in 2011 she completed her Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periontology. The same year she joined the General Dentistry department as an Assistant Professor in Periodontology. Dr. Kanasi has also worked since 2013 as the Periodontist at Whittier Street Health Center, where she has focused on Periodontal Rehabilitation and Implant dentistry.

In 2014 Dr. Kanasi received her Board Certification from the American Board of Periodontology.Dr. Kanasi is currently a Group Practice Leader and Assistant Professor at BUGSDM and specializes in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at the BU Dental Health Center.

Dr. Kanasi has authored and co-authored several publications and has received multiple awards including the Massachusetts Dental Society Ten under 10 award that recognizes the top ten dentists that have graduated within the past 10 years and made significant contributions to the profession, the community and organized dentistry. Dr. Kanasi was inducted in the International College of Dentists in 2013 and participated in Leadership Institute programs from BU and MDS. She is a member of the American Board of Periodontology, the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the International Association of Dental Research.

Dr. Kanasi is proud to serve the Boston University community. Outside of BU she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
